The Beginning: Blog-wise and 4Runner-wise

So finally, we are posting our first entry in our wonderful little blog here. Unfortunately, I am not the best writer. I am jealous of others who seem to just have a way with words. Hopefully ,with time, Rachel and I will get the hang of this blogging thing and it can appreciated by the world as a blog of poetic record of the goings ons in our lives.

Well considering it is I and not Rachel that is posting this first entry it is going to be about our new mode of transportation. For those of you who don't know (which is probably no one) I love things with engines, especially cars. The one that I bought just prior to getting married wasn't cutting it. It has been a great car but it only gets us from point "A" to point "B". In addition, it does have high mileage and I want to be able to sell it before I feel it is too sick to be sold. Anyways, I want more than a set of wheels that JUST gets me from point "A" to point "B" I prefer one that has a little style, in addition to serving needs. Rachel and I wanted a dependable car that would last a long time, that would be able to be a family car as well as allow us to have fun. After weeks upon weeks of research I found a perfect candidate to fill the position. you see to the left was taken right before an little off-roading excursion we took in July. Maybe I'll update this later, but then again, whenever I say I'll do something like thLast August we purchased a wonderful little 4runner. This vehicle was AWESOME! Both Rachel and I loved it and we had lots of fun with it! We were excited to go visit my family in Washington for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, the 4runner didn't make it. Around midnight and about halfway between Rexburg and Spokane, we hit some black ice and the beginning of a rather interesting twist to our vacation began. If I weren't so eager to finish the post I would tell the story. The first picture you see is from the internet before we bought it. The next pictureat I never get around to it. Anyway to make a long story short. The 4runner was totaled and we went to the emergency room I got my head stitched up and before the night was over my Dad and brother Nathan came to our rescue, picked us up from the hospital and took us the rest of the way home. Thanksgiving was great in the sense we got to see lots of family including my grandparents Winston who surprisingly made it up to my parents' house. I would be lying though if I said I was the happiest person in the world. Losing the 4runner had a way bigger impact on me than it should have. We were incredibly lucky that was all we lost (for the most part, we did lose my cell phone, some tools and a few other odds and ends that flew out of the vehicle), things could of been a lot worse. These next pictures were taken on the return trip to Rexburg. My Dad and brother drove us back and we were able to stop by the wrecking yard to grab some things.
Well, I think I am going to move on to happier things. How about I talk about the replacement! Well it has been almost half a year since that dreadful day and now after much searching we have found and purchased a replacement. Again, that is another story in itself but I want to get to the part were I post the pictures. As an introduction, however, I would like to say that this new one was truly a rare find. I have been looking all over the US for one with the right stuff to replace the one we lost if I remember correctly the day after we wrecked. Sad I know, you don't need to tell me. Anyway, we really like this new one. It is newer, has less miles and has more features than our old one. We won't be taking it off road to the same extent as we did our last one but no worries, we will still have some fun!

Well there you have it. Our first blog. Hope you enjoyed it! We will try to keep this updated and perhaps even give more details on this entry. (There is a lot left out of our 4runner adventures in this blog). We would love to hear your comments and suggestions for making this blog an entertaining read for all of you!
